Movie Night
Last night, AUR hosted a movie night in the park unlike anything I’ve ever been to. Not only was the film amazing (I’m sorry I don’t remember the name of it but if someone does they should let me know because I really enjoyed it!) but at the same time it was the least important part of the night. Eating the free food there with friends, talking with strangers, even the technical difficulties, felt easy. It was nice to see everyone collectively relax. No fuss, no tickets, no stress, just the people who needed a break, especially after this long week, finding it here. I went with a couple of my friends and it was nice to have something different but comfortable and low stakes to do. While it was hosted by AUR students, it was open to everyone and specifically advertised to other schools nearby. They really created an unchallenging social environment. It felt like Rome was hosting this night just for us tired students. The community they were trying to create definitely showed up. I look forward to finding more OpenCulture events like this in the future.

I never would have gone if it weren’t for OpenCulture. The event planners posted updates and important information here so I knew what was going on. I could see that other people were commenting about going or supporting, I could add it to my personal calendar on OpenCulture, everything was so easy.
