I’m a student who recently moved to Rome. Everything is new and sometimes overwhelming. I would love to better connect with my area but I feel like I’m always rushing to figure out or catch up with what is going on around me. I want to be involved. My friends all follow tens of accounts on Instagram in order to cross check events or sales in our area, but that is so impractical sometimes. I look at the bulletin boards when I can but truthfully, they’re easy to miss.
OpenCulture is exactly what I needed when I was starting at a new University in a new country. Here I have a calendar that organizes and explains everything that I might be interested in or might need to know about in the city and surrounding areas. I see what other people or organizations advertise. I can find anything from AUR clubs to Roman events.
There's So Much Out There
So far I’ve been to AUR’s Open Air Movie Night, a Sofar Sounds concert, the Paint Your Flag event, a discounted spa day, a lecture on the sinking of Venice, and a cooking class in relation to what I’ve been learning!
I’m looking forward to going to the next Paint Your Own Pottery Night, a brief beach field trip, a hiking trip, and probably more! My friends have been learning about the shows being held at our local theater so we will likely explore that next.
I’m busy but I’m never stressed or overwhelmed on here. I’m meeting people, finding new interests, and overall engaged.
